Taormina Town
A beautiful mediaeval hill town with a Teatro Greco, lovely garden, alleys to wander and explore, stunning views of the sea and Mount Etna, and it's a Tentative UNESCO site.
Greek Theatre of Taormina
It dates from the 3rd century BC and is remarkably well preserved. It can accommodate more than 5,000 people and is home to theatrical performances and concerts.
Etna Volcano
The Sentinel-5P event will set up a visit inside the crater to see what a real, active volcano looks like, and offer the participants an indescribable and absolutely unique panoramic view.
"Godfather" filming location
Forza d'Agrò village is the place where Coppola decided to shoot his memorable movie about the Corleone family. You can visit the Vitelli bar, the Chiesa di San Nicolo/Santa Lucia and Savoca Village a little further. A hosted dinner (transport via bus will be covered by ESA) will be organised in Forza d'Agrò on Thursday evening (13 October 2022).
Alcantara Gorges
Located 50 minutes drive from Taormina, this site is a geological curiosity: more than 25 meters high and only 2 to 4 meters wide. The particularity of this narrow canyon lies in the formation of its walls, which are the result of several lava flows coming from the northern slope of Etna.
Isola Bella
It’s the little island at the bottom of Taormina, which can be reached on foot in half an hour from the top of Taormina. This cove is simply amazing, with its pebble beach and crystal clear waters.
